I am so
honored to be the outgoing and incoming President for Volusia County Chapter
284. I am truly fortunate to have the
same board of directors whose support and patience guided me through this past
year. This year I have a better
understanding of my responsibilities as President and I am very excited about
this new NAWIC year.
Although
our membership may be small, we are a mighty chapter. This year we will again participate in the
Halifax Habitat for Humanity’s “Women Built” house. We are also working with Cambell
Middle School on NAWIC’s Building Design program. Our Block Kids competition will be held in
conjunction with the local homebuilders association. We have also begun working with an
organization called “Builders Care”, a non-profit organization started
by the Volusia County Home Builders Association to provide construction
services at no cost to deserving elderly and disabled homeowners who cannot
obtain home repairs through traditional means.
The
education provided by our Chapter is amazing.
Our upcoming speakers include an expert on “Green
Building” and a state senator. We are working on putting together some
classes for Certified Construction Assistant, Construction Document Specialist,
Construction Industry Technician Certification and Introduction to
Construction.
Finally, I
would like to give my heartfelt thanks to the members of Chapter 284. Your dedication and enthusiasm to this
chapter are endless.
