I am
very excited to serve as the new 2007-2008 President of the Greater Palm
Beaches Chapter #87! We have a wonderful
cohesive group of members and look forward to a really exciting year, filled
with a lot of fun, growth, and new and exciting opportunities.
Our goals are to enhance the professional image of NAWIC and Greater
Palm Beach Chapter # 87 through networking and community involvement. We will be focusing on membership this year,
and our creative membership committee is currently working on a plan to
increase membership. Our fund-raising focus this year will be on education
seminars. In this, we will have a dual opportunity in that not only will we be
raising money for our chapter, but we will expose business members in the
community to the opportunity of joining NAWIC.
Greater Palm Beach Chapter #87 is very involved with Community Service.
Last year, we helped to renovate the Nelle Smith Home for Girls; a foster home
run by the Children’s Home Society and received the Region 3 Award for Community
Service. This year, we are starting out the year by holding a Construction
Career Day at Place of Hope, another foster home. We will be talking to the
teens about various opportunities in the construction industry. We will
continue our donations to “Dress for Success” and our annual Holiday Gift
collection for our local county home.
Addressing Education and NEF, we will be having a Block Kids Competition
in February, as well as our annual CAD Drafting Competition this spring, which
has been very successful for the high school kids in our local area.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve as the chapter president and
working with the board members, general membership and the community.
