Enhancing the Success of Women In Construction

Women are continuing to find the construction industry full of rewarding career opportunities!  As we find our "fit" among a predominantly male workforce,  management teams are acknowledging that women bring with them unique skill-sets and perspectives that add tremendous value to their companies and promote the advancement of construction as an industry.

Women comprise approximately 10% of the construction industry workforce, and for our industry to remain viable and competitive, the industry MUST continually recruit and train women.  The founders organized NAWIC to create a support group that would recruit, educate and support women and their causes, from tradeswomen to business owners.

If you are a woman currently working in the construction industry or are considering construction as a career choice, please browse our website for a chapter location near you and contact them.  You will find women willing to invest in your success within our amazing industry!

Annual Planning Conference, October 14-15

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. It was founded in 1953 by 16 women working in the construction industry. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction.
