Purpose
To obtain and develop progarms and construction related projects, to educate NAWIC members about different areas of the construction industry, to promote the professional and personal growth of our members and to educate the community about NAWIC and the construction industry.

When I agreed to take on the position as Region 3 CP&E Chair, my mind was filled with so many ideas and goals that I had to sit down with our director and reign myself in.  As the CP&E Chair, I really want to meet our purpose I want everyone to participate and to be as excited about the possibilities and purpose as I am.

CP&E Has Three Goals

Speakers Bureau

The first goal is the Speakers Bureau. We will have a CP&E web page that will link you to an ever growing list of speakers.  You will be able to peruse and contact any of these speakers for your meetings and/or events.  We would like to enlist our own members, not only to be speakers but to also submit the names of other professionals who reflect and support NAWIC.  Each Chapter should have a speaker at your meetings.  These speakers would not only educate the membership in a variety of ways but might also benefit our companies and thereby increase the value to the membership.  First rate speakers will entice people to your meetings.  These speakers and guests will in turn go back out and tell others about NAWIC.  In my own Chapter a few of our speakers were so taken with us they became members.

Community Project
The second goal is the Community Project.  There will be plans posted on teh website that you will be able to download for projects like pouring a concrete bicycle pad, building a garden box, and other construction and community outreach dates.  Chapter #297's Juvenile Detention Project will also be available online for you to look at and maybe emulate.  As each Chapter submits their community projects to me, they will be scanned, uploaded and posted online for other Chapter's to utilize.  Currently, I am working on a comapny to possibly finance or provide materials for some of these projects to Chapters who are strapped for funds.

Region Wide Community Project
The third goal is Region Wide Community Project to work hand in hand with Women in Construction Week.  Director Jean Cox would like to see our Region pull off another 100% WIC Week participation with this goal.  Region 3 CP&E has partnered with Project Choice's Voices (PCV) and the Roots Heritage Urban Food Hub (RHUFH) to build at least one garden box in each NAWIC Chapter's town during WIC Week.  This project will have step by step building specifications available on line  NAWIC member Christiann Gardner who is also the President of PCV, will provide contact information for each of your home towns to establish a contact person and location for you if necessary.  The garden box project is an easy back to basics construction project for the promotion of NAWIC.  This project also has teh ability to reach out in the community to support a food bank or a shelter and open doors to benefit the increasing amount of marginalized families in our home towns.  Your Chapter could enlist and teach a Girl Scout troop or other young people to help you in constructing these boxes  This in turn will introduce more people to NAWIC and the field of construction.  This is a win/win project that wil give yoru Chapters a positive "publicity" opportunity.

Christiann and I plan to try and make a pilgrimage to each of your Chapters and talk to you about your projects, listen to your feedback and ideas.  Eventually there will be forms ont website you can download, fill out and email back to me to tell us about your projects and your speakers  Until I complete all fo the forms, I will be personally asking each Chapter CP&E representatives to email me a written synopsis following your meetings and/or projects and sharing the specifics of the events.  For example - speaker, topic, project, participation, results etc.  Again, please remember any project you conduct can be scanned to the website for other NAWIC Chapters to utilize in their own communities

All three CP&E goals are designed to reach beyond your Chapters and reach out to our home towns, our neighbors and potential members.  The absolute goal is for all of just to achieve the CP&E Purpose.

Please join with me in promoting NAWIC through community outreach projects, speakers, meetings and at the same time take advantage of the opportunities to introuduce others to the wonderful world of construction.  By doing this CP&E you will help your Chapters to be stronger, more professional and focused.  The membership will want to renew, they will want to be part of something bigger, and they will want the education opportunities, networking and camaraderie of beign with other women who share the same purpose.
